Like for many of us, my obsession with costume drama TV shows, films, and historical romance novels began with the 2005 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. While listening to the gorgeous piano soundtrack during the end credits, fifteen-year-old me lay on the bed, cried her eyes out, and decided that things just couldn’t get any better than this. Men like Mr. Darcy might not exist in real life—definitely not in my social circle—but I can write about them and at least pretend they are real, if only for a few hours.
Still, more than ten years had to pass before I really sat down and started writing my own stories in earnest. Until that point, I had put hundreds of hours into writing, but only fanfiction. Once I discovered the books of Mimi Matthews and spent an entire Christmas break devouring them, I decided to try my own luck with the genre. And guess what? I haven’t been able to stop writing ever since!
In my real, quite ordinary life, I work as a film/video editor, mostly specializing in documentaries. I live in Budapest, Hungary, with my husband. If I’m not in the office, I read—mostly romance, but occasionally fantasy, mystery, or middle-grade—I watch films, I binge TV shows, I research my family tree—a project of mine spanning multiple years now—or I play some banging fantasy RPGs like Dragon Age or Baldur’s Gate. I also have a couple of hundred hours in The Sims 4, and I can’t say that I regret it.
